1 person died in early morning shooting in Savannah

Update 05/08/24 7:00 a.m.: According to Savannah police, the person shot on Alabama Avenue has died.

First report: According to Savannah police, someone was shot on Alabama Avenue near Connecticut Avenue early Wednesday morning. The venue is not far from Avondale Park.

The victim’s condition is currently unknown. This shooting occurred just hours after someone was injured in a shooting on W. 40th Street. These scenes are less than ten minutes apart.

We asked police if they believe these shootings are related, but they said they don’t know at this time.
