Henrico police investigate pursuit of possible drunk driver

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Henrico County Police are investigating after being called to a possible drunk driver on Nuckols Road that resulted in a chase with police.

According to a spokesperson for the Henrico County Police Department, Henrico Emergency Services received several calls from citizens on Sunday, June 9, reporting a possible drunk driver on Nuckols Road.


At 8:56 p.m., Henrico Police officers arrived on scene, located the vehicle in question, and conducted a traffic stop.

According to the spokesman, the man drove away from the traffic stop at high speed before the officer could make contact with the driver of the vehicle. The officer then initiated a short pursuit.

The pursuit ended after the driver struck a railing near the intersection of Hickory Ridge Road and Nuckols Road. According to the spokesperson, the driver was transported by the Henrico Fire Department to an area hospital where he is being treated for injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

According to the spokesman, the investigation is ongoing and charges will be filed.
