Shooting at block party in Rock Hill: Second arrest made

The arrest followed a street party on Southland Drive that turned violent on June 1.

ROCK HILL, SC — Rock Hill police have arrested a second suspect in connection with a fatal shooting at a street festival in a Rock Hill neighborhood that left two people dead.

Quantrel Jaheim Barrino, 18, was arrested early Saturday morning.

Police had been searching for Barrino after detectives issued an arrest warrant for him on suspicion of aiding and abetting murder.

The warrant was based on information showing he was involved in a shooting that killed 44-year-old Montest Mincey, police said.

The arrest was made in connection with a street party on Southland Drive that turned violent on June 1. Officials in the area said they heard gunshots coming from the party around 10 p.m.

Two people, including Mincey and 21-year-old Maricus Kirk, died at the scene. Two other people were injured but survived.

A fundraiser for Mincey’s family reveals that she is a mother of three children.

Rock Hill police announced the arrest of 19-year-old D’markieoun Ji’shae Clyburn on Friday. He is accused of killing Mincey. Clyburn was arrested in Lancaster County and taken to the Rock Hill Jail, where he will be officially served with a warrant for his arrest for murder.

Barrino was taken to the Rock Hill Jail, where he was served with a warrant and officially booked.

A person who spoke to WCNC Charlotte anonymously said they saw people wearing ski masks during the shooting.

The criminal investigations are ongoing.
