Almost six years have passed since the release of Red Dead Redemption 2some fans are beginning to imagine what experiences the franchise might take next. Of course all news about Red Dead Redemption is probably still a long way off, thanks to the upcoming highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6but that does not mean that GTA6 could be a great inspiration for a future red death release. Rumors and reports say that the real story of Bonnie and Clyde was a major inspiration for the core narrative of Grand Theft Auto 6The two protagonists of the game have a similar connection to the notorious criminal couple. GTA Possibly taken from historical accounts of famous outlaws, it seems only right that the next Red Dead Redemption should be equally inspired by the countless famous gunslingers and criminals of the real Wild West.

The next Red Dead Redemption should rely more on real outlaws
The popular December 2023 reveal trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 gave fans their first glimpse of the upcoming title’s two main protagonists, a man and a woman named Jason and Lucia. The trailer confirmed many long-standing reports about the duo, with the player controlling both characters as they navigate the world of crime and a romantic relationship with each other.
This immediately led to comparisons between Jason and Lucia and Bonnie and Clyde, real-life criminal lovers who wreaked havoc in the United States during the Great Depression. Bonnie and Clyde traveled with a larger gang and were known for large-scale robberies and murders, a theme that also played out in the story of Jason and Lucia in Grand Theft Auto 6.
While it’s unknown whether Jason and Lucia will meet the same bloody end at the hands of the law as Bonnie and Clyde, the inspiration Rockstar has drawn from their story is already clear, and it could easily be extended to the next installment. Unless the next Red Dead Redemption decides to follow Jack Marston into the 1920s, at the expense of its cowboy themes, it seems likely that Rockstar will have to turn to a new cast of characters, away from the Van der Linde gang.
