According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the explosion occurred around 8:30 p.m. in the 23500 block of North Overhill Road in the unincorporated community of Lake Zurich.

Firefighters and rescue workers were called to the scene of an explosion and found “a house completely leveled to the ground” upon arrival, authorities said.

The homeowner, a 77-year-old man, was missing after the explosion, but officials said Wednesday morning that the body of an adult man had been recovered.
