‘Put handcuffs on them’: Dolton’s meeting with Mayor Tiffany Henyard and Lori Lightfoot ends in chaos

A hastily convened village meeting in Dolton ended in chaos when opponents and supporters of controversial Mayor Tiffany Henyard nearly came to blows on Monday.

Police had to break up the standoff as Henyard and the trustees cleared the room. The standoff occurred immediately after the trustees voted 4-2 to reopen former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s investigation into Henyard’s activities, overriding Henyard’s veto.

“We will not allow anyone to stop us or prevent us from finding out the facts,” Lightfoot said almost inaudibly, as Henyard and the trustees made several attempts to interrupt her.

The news was the culmination of a debate that lasted more than two hours, during which villagers filled the hall to voice their anger at the controversial mayor and her lack of transparency regarding the use of village finances.

Chicago’s Music Box Theatre is undergoing major renovations to improve the visitor experience

One of Chicago’s most popular movie theaters will close for a month this summer as extensive renovations are undertaken to enhance the movie-going experience and preserve its historic charm.

The Music Box Theater in Lakeview, an architectural gem and focal point of the neighborhood since 1929, is undergoing renovations to repair the wear and tear accumulated over its 95-year history.

“We’re going to do a little renovation on our beautiful, old, 95-year-old space,” said Ryan Oestreich, general manager of the Music Box Theater. “It needs to be modernized, but not in a way that we lose anything. The aesthetic will be exactly the same as it was back in 1929.”

A West Philly family is in mourning after two children drowned in a pool over Memorial Day weekend.

FOX 29’s Cheyenne Corin spoke with the heartbroken mother just hours after she made the heartbreaking decision to take her off life support.

Her son and daughter both died from drowning in a swimming pool, and as she reflects on their lives, she also has a message for other parents.

“They weren’t in there for more than three or four minutes,” the grieving mother said. “And then they were calling their names. I don’t think they were playing when they jumped in. They were at the bottom of the pool.”
