Arrest after man shot in hand in Arlandria

Alexandria Police have arrested a man allegedly responsible for shooting a man in the hand in Arlandria on Friday evening, May 31.

APD responded to several calls about shots fired around 9 p.m. and found shell casings on the ground, according to police reports. Callers reported to police that they heard between six and seven gunshots.

The victim was shot in the hand and taken to the hospital, APD reported on X. He told police the suspect was a black man in his 20s wearing a white T-shirt and carrying a shoulder bag.

A suspect who matched the two men was arrested about a half-mile away. According to APD reports, he had blood on his shirt when he was arrested.

There have been several violent incidents in Arlandria recently.

This latest incident came just over a week after a man was shot in the knee in the 3800 block of Executive Avenue and a few days after two women reported a man pointed a gun at them as they tried to drive out of a parking lot in the 500 block of Four Mile Road.
