The Houston Texans’ Edge Rusher duo each ranks in the NFL’s top 32 at the position

The Houston Texans have plenty of star power, but they are also a complete team with elite talent on both sides of the ball.

Media and fans will be drawn to the offensive depth, which includes CJ Stroud, Tank Dell, Nico Collins, Stefon Diggs, Joe Mixon and more. They have an elite set of weapons around the star second-year quarterback and all the explosiveness of the offense.

As the new season approaches, all the attention is on the new look of the offense. However, the defense led by second-year head coach DeMeco Ryans will also be solid. Anchored by Defensive Rookie of the Year Will Anderson Jr., the Texans also have plenty of star power on that side of the ball.

Pro Football Focus ranked the 32 best edge defenders in the NFL, among whom was the Texan’s second-year star – who came in at No. 20. Before him, however, the Texans’ Danielle Hunter was ranked 16th, proving the team’s star power on that side of the ball.

“Hunter has quietly recorded double-digit sacks in each of the last two seasons with nearly identical passer ratings of 80.1 and 79.1 and pressure totals of 85 and 84, respectively,” wrote PFF. “With Hunter now in Houston, we will see if he can continue to play at a high level against Will Anderson Jr.”

The 29-year-old has recorded 27 sacks over the past two seasons with the Minnesota Vikings. He has 87.5 career sacks and 134 quarterback hits. He’s going to make some noise in the Houston backfield this season.

“Anderson was very solid during his rookie campaign. He recorded a 77.4 run defense grade and a 76.6 pass rush grade while accumulating 68 quarterback pressures and posting a 16.4% win rate Another step forward in either category could be achieved into the top 15 or perhaps even the top 10 of this list for 2025,” wrote. PFF on Anderson Jr.

The duo will make life easier for each other and will take turns playing games that will change the game. Anderson Jr., entering his sophomore season, is ready to improve and make an even bigger impact.
