The Lions sign safety CJ Moore after the suspension for 2023

The Detroit Lions are re-signing the safety CJ Moore for the 2024 season following the former Ole Miss According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, this is Standout’s one-year suspension. Moore did not play in the 2023 season after the league suspended him and several teammates.

While some were suspended for six games, others were suspended indefinitely. Those suspended indefinitely had the opportunity to apply for reinstatement after the 2023 season. The league reinstated Moore and four other players last month.

The Lions acquired Moore as an undrafted free agent from Ole Miss following the 2019 NFL Draft. He played for them for three seasons before letting him go, which led to him signing with the Houston Texans in October 2022. After joining the Texans’ practice squad, he rejoined the Lions’ active roster after a week.

Moore last played in the 2022 season and totaled 12 tackles with a fumble recovery in 11 games played. That led to Detroit signing him to a two-year, $4.5 million contract. Unfortunately, the league imposed the suspension just a month later, leading to his release last April. Now Moore is signing a new one-year contract with the Lions.

Additional Lions players have been suspended by the league for gambling violations Jameson WilliamsWide receivers Quintez Cephusand defensive lineman Demetrius Taylor.

NFL gambling rules state that a player is not allowed to bet on league games. The other restrictions prevent players from placing bets while on team premises. Additionally, players cannot bet from their hotel while traveling to away games or while with the team in other areas.
