Storms approaching, several warnings issued for East Texas

Two severe weather warnings are currently in effect across East Texas.

The first warning was issued this afternoon shortly before 3 p.m. and will last until 9 p.m. The counties covered by the warning include Angelina, Nacogdoches, Rusk, Cherokee, Trinity and Houston.

The second severe weather warning was issued shortly after 5:30 a.m. and is in effect until 10 p.m. This warning increases the likelihood of severe storms further east. Counties affected by this warning include Sabine, San Augustine, Shelby and Panola.

There is currently no severe weather warning in place for counties south of this region, including Polk, Tyler, Jasper and Newton.

Anyone living in these districts must expect heavy rain, destructive straight-line winds with gusts of up to 110 km/h and hail the size of peas and ping-pong balls until the severe weather warning is issued. A sudden tornado is also possible.
