Body of missing woman found in mouth of alligator in Texas – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

A Houston police officer shot and killed an alligator after it was found with the remains of a woman in its mouth, police said in a statement.

Authorities were searching for the woman, believed to be 60, after she was reported missing near a lake in Texas on Tuesday morning, police said.

While searching the area, a police officer found the alligator and shot it “to prevent it from causing further damage to the remains,” police said.

The woman’s identity remains unknown and it is not clear whether she was fatally attacked by the alligator or whether the attack was the result of another accident.

Houston police said they are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine the cause of death. In the meantime, the case remains under investigation.
