17-year-old arrested after body found in vehicle near downtown Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A 17-year-old is charged with murder after a person was found fatally shot in a car near downtown Las Vegas.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department received a report from a man who claimed his son “shot his friend” at an “unknown location” on Monday. After speaking with the man, officers responded around 4:08 a.m. to the 1600 block of East St. Louis Avenue near Maryland Parkway

There, officers found the victim in a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

An initial investigation determined that the 17-year-old male intentionally shot the victim, but details of the shooting are unclear.

The juvenile was arrested and booked into the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center on a charge of open murder.

The identity of the deceased and the cause and manner of death will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
