Telangana woman dies in road accident in US, family devastated

Hyderabad, May 27: A 25-year-old woman from Telangana was killed in a car accident in the US state of Florida, her family said on Monday.

According to her family, Guntipalli Sowmya died on the spot on Sunday evening after she was hit by a speeding car while crossing the road.

Sowmya, who hails from Yadagaripalli in Yadadri Bhongir district, had gone to the US for further studies. She had completed her Masters from Florida Atlantic University and was looking for a job.

Sowmya’s family was shocked to receive the news of her death. Her parents Koteswara Rao and Balamani have requested the central and state governments to repatriate her body to India.

Telangana Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy expressed his condolences to Sowmya’s family. He said efforts were on to reclaim her remains.
