Buffalo Bills linebacker Von Miller addresses his arrest following domestic violence allegations.

On Thursday, Miller, 34, spoke to reporters for the first time since Dallas police issued a warrant for his arrest, citing assault of a pregnant person, which the Police Department of Dallas (DPD) confirmed to PEOPLE on November 30.

Miller turned himself in the same day and was later released after posting $5,000 bail, ESPN reported Thursday.

“It’s been a crazy month,” Miller told reporters in an opening statement before answering questions at a news conference Thursday. “Obviously there are things I can’t talk about, but everything that has been said is completely false and disproportionate.”

“My girlfriend and I have issues like any other couple, but there have never been any of these things brought against me,” he added. “I hope that with time this will all clear up. Life, sometimes life, is just… being life. You just have to keep pushing and keep moving forward. People who know me and the people who have been around me know my character, they know who I am.”

The linebacker said “all of this is incorrect and all of this is false” when asked by reporters what aspects of the allegations against him were false, according to ESPN. Miller said domestic violence never factored into his relationship and noted that he and his girlfriend were expecting a third son, according to the outlet.

A representative for the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment Friday.

On November 30, a DPD representative told PEOPLE that police responded to a “major disturbance call” in the 3100 block of North Harwood in Dallas on November 29 around 11 a.m. local time.

“The preliminary investigation determined that the suspect, Vonnie Miller, 34, and the victim got into a verbal argument and the suspect assaulted the victim,” the rep said.

The alleged victim in the incident told police that she and Miller had been in a relationship for seven years, had children together and that she was six weeks pregnant at the time of the incident, according to ESPN, which cited a affidavit for the arrest warrant against Meunier. The affidavit alleges Miller physically assaulted the alleged victim and then told her she was going to call the police, after which Miller left the residence, the outlet reported.

“Honestly, I wasn’t on social media before and definitely not on social media now. But from the things that have been brought to my attention, it’s all false,” Miller told reporters when asked asked if he and his girlfriend had had an argument. on November 29, per ESPN. “And I would love to sit here and say, ‘You all know me!’ But it’s not, it’s not that kind of situation because domestic violence really does exist all over the world – for men and women.”

“And it’s a serious situation, so I’m not going to pull that card,” he added. “All I can say is that it’s only a matter of time before everything goes back to normal.”

The Bills opted to allow Miller to continue playing in the weeks following his arrest.

On December 6, team general manager Brandon Beane told reporters that the team had “had our conversations with Von and understood what he thought happened” regarding the alleged domestic violence incident .
