Pedestrian fatally hit by train in downtown Lemont: Police

Lemont police said the incident occurred Saturday afternoon near the corner of Stephen and Main streets.

LEMONT, IL — Lemont police are investigating after a person was fatally struck by a train in downtown Lemont Saturday afternoon.

According to police, the incident occurred near Stephen Street and Main Street. Police said it appears to have been an accident.

Police told WGN that a 47-year-old woman was killed in the incident. An Amtrak spokesperson said the woman was “trespassing on the tracks” when she was struck, WGN reported.

The incident remains under investigation.
