Sheriff says 11-year-old boy was flown out by helicopter after being attacked by family dog

LULING, Louisiana – An 11-year-old boy was flown to the hospital by helicopter Friday after being bitten on the leg by the family dog, according to the St. Charles Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. when officers were called to the 100 block of W. Heather Drive in Luling.

Officers said the boy had bite wounds on his leg. “Due to the bleeding, officers applied a tourniquet.”

The boy was flown by helicopter to a hospital for treatment and is in stable condition.

Deputies said the dog was taken in by the St. Charles Parish animal shelter.
