Weather of the first warning:

  • Today is a First Alert Weather Day: Strong to severe storms are possible this afternoon and evening (mainly south of St. Louis)
  • Strong storm potential exists again on Friday and Sunday
  • The busy weather continues into the holiday weekend

This afternoon is a First Alert weather day due to the threat of a few isolated severe storms, with the major threat centered south of St. Louis. Storms developing and moving in from the southwest could become strong to severe this afternoon and early evening. We currently expect severe storms to develop between 1pm and 7pm. Hail would be the most likely threat, with strong straight-line winds also possible. Meanwhile, temperatures will be noticeably cooler today and humidity will be lower.

Rest of the week until the weekend: Our local weather pattern remains generally warm and unsettled. A changing risk of rain and storms remains over the coming holiday weekend. If you want a longer dry season, the chance of rain is significantly lower on Thursday and Saturday. But there are also some early signals of strong to severe storms on Friday and Sunday. The chance of rain on Memorial Day has decreased slightly. Check back occasionally as the timing of this rain chance is subject to change.
