A man is wanted by police after a woman was reportedly raped on a seaside resort promenade.

Lancashire Police were called to the scene of the accident between the Bluewaters Hotel and the North Pier on Blackpool Promenade at 3:30am BST on Thursday.

Investigators believe the attack occurred in the early morning hours between 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Police say they want to speak with a tall Asian man in his 30s, described as slim, wearing multi-colored flared pants, a short-sleeved top and a black durag.

Increased patrols

Det Insp Liam Davy, of West CID, said the woman was being looked after by specially trained officers.

“We know this may be alarming, but we want to reassure you that we have launched an investigation and have increased targeted patrols in the area while the investigation is ongoing,” he said.

DI Davy urged anyone who may have seen anything suspicious, have dashcam or CCTV footage of the area or may have seen a man fitting this description to come forward.
