1 dead after 2 men shot drive to Steak n Shake in Mobile, police say

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – One man is dead after two men with gunshot wounds drove to the Steak N Shake restaurant in McGowin Park late Friday.

Mobile police said two women spotted the bullet-riddled car, stopped it and called 911.

At least four bullet holes were visible on the car, which stopped near Steak N Shake and McAlister’s Deli in McGowin Park on Government Boulevard.

Police were called to the scene shortly before 11 p.m

Police said they found a gun in a thicket.

Officials told FOX10 News they believe the shooting occurred west of Interstate 65, but are unsure of the location. They said they believed they then drove east and ended up at the restaurant. They said ambulances took both men to University of South Alabama Hospital. One victim was pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to police, the second victim is expected to survive. He told police that they had been shot at an apartment complex, but officers could not find any evidence of a shooting there, according to the Mobile Police Department.

Authorities are still trying to figure out what happened. FOX10 News will have additional information as it becomes available.
