5th round pick Javon Solomon is excited to be a Buffalo Bill

5th round selection, defensive end Javon Solomon expressed his excitement about being a part of the Bills organization during rookie minicamp this weekend.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. – Buffalo Bills rookie pass rusher Javon Solomon can’t wait to say hello to new teammate Von Miller.

“It hasn’t arrived yet, but as soon as it does, I’ll be the first to do it,” Solomon said.

Big Von, as Solomon calls Miller, is now joined by little Von on the Bills’ defensive line.

Buffalo selected Solomon out of Troy in this year’s NFL Draft. Although he led the FBS with 16 sacks last season, the 6-foot-1 runner waited until the fifth round to hear his name called.

“The reduced size is a visual cue, but what you’re doing from a physical standpoint is a whole different thing,” Solomon said.

“So I’m going to go out there and do my best and there’s a lot of guys that have been successful. (Elvis) Dumervil…just undersized guys going out there and killing it. So that’s the plan, come on -y and intensify it.”

What immediately stood out to Solomon was the pace of his first practice with the Bills.

“Very quickly,” said Solomon. “It’s non-stop until the coach calls us, so it’s a constant movement, but it’s something you get used to very quickly.”

The rookie minicamp marked Solomon’s first time on the field at One Bills Drive after a lengthy pre-draft and draft process. Now, Solomon is happy to have completed this experience and is excited to wear a Bills helmet.

“This is the moment I’ve been waiting for,” Solomon said.

“God really blessed me like I said, I got drafted and I’m here. I’m here now, just doing the football stuff. All the combining, all the interview prep. All that is behind me now, and at the end of the day, Javon Solomon is a football player.

Solomon is now ready to continue showing it off as the offseason progresses.

“I’m happy to be here doing what I do, doing what I love and God has given me the blessing to know that I’m good at this, so I’m going to keep rolling,” a- he declared.

Solomon and the rest of the Bills will begin OTAs in less than two weeks on May 20 at One Bills Drive.
