ST. PAUL, Minn. — St. Paul officers shot and killed a suicidal woman who pointed a gun at her Monday night, police said.

Officers responded to reports of a suicide in the Payne-Phalen neighborhood around 7:15 p.m., the St. Paul Police Department said.

According to police, a woman pointed a handgun at officers at a home on Rose Avenue East and they shot her. She died at the scene of the accident.

The officers involved have been placed on regular administrative leave.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the shooting.
