Police say 3 children arrested after escaping from stolen car in Atlantic City – NBC10 Philadelphia

Three 13-year-old boys were arrested by police in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on Sunday evening after they were spotted in what officials said was a stolen car before causing an accident and attempting to flee the vehicle.

According to police, the incident occurred on Sunday, July 25, 2024, at approximately 11:35 p.m., when officers on patrol noticed a Kia Sportage near the intersection of Maryland Avenue and Absecon Boulevard that had been reported stolen approximately three days earlier in the area of ​​the 500 block of Delaware Avenue.

When the boys spotted the police patrol car, they fled from the car, but did not park it, instead letting it roll into a stop sign before coming to a stop on a curb.

Officers who observed the boys exiting the vehicle and other police officers who responded to the incident were able to arrest all three teens shortly after the incident, officials said.

The three 13-year-old boys were accused of burglary, property damage and related crimes.

Officials said all three were released into the custody of a parent or guardian, and citations were issued to those who allowed the children to roam the streets unsupervised after curfew.
