Channahon man charged with sexual assault and abuse of a minor

A 59-year-old Channahon man could spend the rest of his life in prison for allegedly sexually assaulting and abusing a minor.

In late June of this year, Channahon Police learned of an allegation of sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl that had occurred at the home of James Dobbs on South Frontage Road West.

Channahon police learned that there had been multiple incidents of sexual abuse over the course of several years in Rockdale, Illinois, and most recently in Channahon.

A thorough and comprehensive investigation was conducted, spanning more than a year and involving the assistance of the Bolingbrook Police Department, the Will County Children’s Advocacy Center, and the Illinois State Police Forensic Science Laboratory.

Dobbs was arrested on July 29 by the Grundy County Proactive Unit and the Channahon Police Department.thHe was charged with three counts of sexual assault and six counts of sexual abuse. He remains in the Will County Jail.
