Wanted man arrested for burglary and forgery in Albany

ALBANY, Louisiana (BRPROUD) – A wanted Tangipahoa Parish man has been arrested by Albany Police.

According to police, APD was notified on Monday, July 29, that wanted suspect Christopher Wittie was in the area near Julia Street.


Wittie was wanted by the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office on several warrants, including burglary and forgery.

“When Wittie saw APD police, he fled on foot. Springfield Police, Killian Police, LPSO sheriff’s deputies and detectives were called in to assist and establish a perimeter. LPSO sniffer dogs were also called in,” said Albany Police Chief Boyd Wild.

Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard said, “While on the perimeter, LPSO officers, our K9 partners, and APD officers were directed to Leslie St. Officers surrounded the home. Our LPSO K9 was soon able to locate and apprehend the suspect hiding under a tarp.”

Wittie was arrested and booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on several charges.
