1 dead in dump truck-motorcycle collision in Brookville

BROOKVILLE, NY – A 28-year-old died Thursday when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a dump truck on Cedar Swamp Road, Nassau County police report.

Investigators said the man was traveling north on a 2002 Yamaha motorcycle at 5:08 p.m. when he struck a 2000 Hino dump truck, operated by a 55-year-old man, from Hemlock Drive turned west onto Cedar Swamp Road.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by a Jericho Fire Department paramedic. No other injuries were reported, police said.

According to the police, a safety check of the dump truck was carried out on site. The investigation is ongoing.

Cedar Swamp Road between Fruitledge Road and Apple Road was closed throughout the evening and reopened after 10 p.m
