Prineville police chief and captain suspended for nearly 6 months; investigation closed | Central Oregon Daily

The City of Prineville is considering its next steps following the completion of a third-party investigation involving the police chief and a police captain who were on leave for nearly six months.

Police Chief Larry Seymour and a police captain have been on paid, non-disciplinary administrative leave since July 21, 2023. At the time, the city said there would be an investigation “into an internal, non-criminal personnel matter.”

A spokesman for the city of Prineville said Tuesday that now that the investigation is complete, the city is “in the process of reviewing internal options for next steps.”

“We will provide an update as soon as practically possible,” the spokesman said.

The city has not confirmed the captain’s name, citing an internal personnel investigation.
