Former New Jersey high school teacher charged with sexually abusing second student

A 36-year-old former high school teacher who has already been accused of sexually harassing a student is now accused of the same offense against a second student.

Julie Rizzitello, 36, is charged with second-degree sexual abuse and third-degree witness tampering in the second incident, the Monmouth County District Attorney’s Office said Wednesday.

The former Wall High School teacher is said to have sexually abused the second victim in Brick, the hometown of Wall and Rizzitello, starting in 2017.

Further information on the alleged attacks was not initially available

Her attorney, Francis Hodgson, was unavailable for comment, according to an aide who answered the phone at his office in Toms River Wednesday morning.

Rizzitello has been held at the Monmouth County Jail in Freehold Township since her arrest on July 3. Her detention hearing is scheduled for July 24.

Rizzitello had previously been charged with two counts of sexual assault, three counts of sexual assault and witness tampering. The victim in that case was an 18-year-old college student.

She sexually abused the 18-year-old several times – including in his car – and sent him nude photos of herself, according to a court document.

According to a probable cause affidavit outlining the original charges against her, Rizzitello had sexual contact with the student on multiple occasions between April and June 14.

Rizzitello and the student had sexual contact in his car in Brick on May 14, authorities allege. She later sent him nude photos, officials said. They also met in Belmar, Brick and Wall, prosecutors allege.

According to a now-deleted profile of her on the school district’s website, she was an English teacher at Wall High School.

Rizzitello was hired in 2013 and was earning an annual salary of $62,156 before she quit her job.

Anyone with information regarding Rizzitello’s activities is asked to call Detective Jose Rodriguez with the District Attorney’s Office at 800-533-7443 or Detective Devin Corso with the Wall Police Department at 732-449-4500.
