At least 1 dead in accident on Highway 61 in Cottage Grove

COTTAGE GROVE, Minnesota – The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a fatal crash Tuesday afternoon in Cottage Grove.

According to the accident report, an 87-year-old woman driving a 2020 Chevrolet Camaro attempted to turn left from northbound Highway 61 onto Highway 95 on a red light at around 2:45 p.m. A 37-year-old man driving a 2015 Dodge Ram truck traveling southbound on Highway 61 collided with the Camaro.

The Minnesota State Patrol did not provide further details on the fatalities, but said the accident involved an unbelted passenger.

Both drivers came from Hastings.

Further information is expected to be released on Wednesday afternoon.
