Sunday, 23 June

12:34 a.m. A man was charged with failure to provide current proof of insurance, having no license plates on his vehicle, and violating the conditions of a temporary driver’s license at 500 S. Oak St.

02:46 A man was arrested on a warrant and charged with driving a disabled vehicle and operating an uninsured motor vehicle at 600 S. Market St.

4:04 p.m.: An officer arrested a woman on a warrant after responding to a call to impound a vehicle she was borrowing in the 600 block of S. Park.

5:08 p.m. An officer arrested a man and woman at Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St., on suspicion of domestic violence and third-degree assault. The man repeatedly asked the officer to call his fiancée for him while he was being treated for his injuries at the hospital. The officer stated in his report that his response to the constant requests was, “I would, but I wanted to tell her that he was exchanging affection with another woman at the park and beating her up,” at which point the man’s requests eventually ended.

Monday, June 24

3:28 a.m.: An officer arrested a woman driving a suspected REDDI vehicle at Handymart, 806 S. Broadway, on suspicion of driving under the influence, failure to provide proof of insurance, driving on a suspended license for a DUI offense, failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to comply with a protective order.

04:20 a.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of attempted assault on a police officer, vehicular ejection, driving while suspended twice, reckless driving, resisting arrest and obstructing a police officer after he left the vehicle during an ongoing investigation at the Handymart, 806 S. Broadway, and returned to the scene of the investigation in another vehicle.

4:53 p.m.: A man and a woman were arrested on suspicion of violating protective orders prohibiting them from consuming or possessing alcohol and trespassing at Happy Valley Trailer Park, 203 E. Seventh St.

6:31 p.m. A woman was arrested on a warrant at Southwest Memorial Hospital, 1311 N. Mildred Road.

9:09 p.m.: An officer arrested a man on four warrants at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St.

Tuesday, June 25

7:47 a.m. Two women were arrested on warrants at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. One of the women received a summons for trespassing.

11:12 a.m. An officer arrested a woman and two men at Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St. The woman was arrested on suspicion of violating a protective order prohibiting her from possessing or consuming alcohol. One of the men had an extraditable warrant out of Arizona and the other had a warrant out of Montezuma County. All were suspected of fighting at the park.

1:59 p.m. Two women were arrested after reports emerged that a large group was screaming and fighting near the city pool, 803 E. Montezuma Ave. The women were arrested on suspicion of violating protective orders prohibiting them from consuming or possessing alcohol.

Wednesday, June 26

8:56 a.m. A man was arrested after he was discovered under a pile of clothes in the corner of a bedroom during a search for a missing City of Cortez property. The property, located in a home in the 1600 block of Taylor Street, broadcast its location. The man was suspected of violating a protective order that states he is not allowed to have any contact with a woman living on the property, without exception. The woman who was protected from the man also had a similar protective order against her, which also states she is not allowed to have any contact with the man, without exception. Both were arrested for violating protective orders against each other.

1:54 p.m. An officer arrested a man who attempted to flee on foot. The man was also charged with resisting arrest near the Cold Stone Creamery, 215 S. Sligo St.

Thursday, June 27

2:45 a.m. An officer responded to a report of property damage at a home in the 100 block of E. Third St.

3:05 a.m. A man was cited for trespassing at Denny’s, 2059 E. Main St.

1:33 p.m.: An officer responded to PC411, 17 N. Maple St., for a stolen laptop.

4:11 p.m.: An officer arrested a man on a warrant after responding to a man trespassing on the property of the Church of Christ, 631 E. Montezuma Ave.

4:50 p.m.: An officer responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at 1107 Lebanon Road.

10:01 p.m.: An officer served an arrest warrant to a man in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

11:02 p.m. An officer transported an intoxicated woman from Oaks Meadows Trailer Park, 405 W. Seventh St., to Southwest Memorial Hospital after responding to a call about an unwanted person. The woman was reportedly unable to remain calm or comply with emergency procedures during treatment. The officer stated in his report that he would ask a day shift officer to serve the woman with a citation for underage drinking once she regained consciousness.

Friday, June 28

2:01 a.m. Officers responding to a disturbance call from Aneth Lodge, 645 E. Main St., arrested a woman on suspicion of harassment, domestic violence and obstructing a peace officer.

8:56 a.m. A man was cited for trespassing at Front Row Seat, 610 E. Main St.

3:39 p.m.: A man was arrested on a warrant at Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St.

6:47 p.m.: A man was arrested on two warrants at Walgreens, 1671 E. Main St.

7:45 p.m.: An officer arrested a man on two warrants and on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia at Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St.

Saturday, June 29

8:26 p.m.: An officer arrested a man at the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St., on two warrants and suspicion of violating a protective order prohibiting him from possessing or consuming alcohol.

Sunday, June 30

3:47 p.m.: A man was arrested for bail violating alcohol consumption or possession and destruction of personal property after witnesses reported seeing him smash a window at Aneth Lodge, 645 E. Main St.

8:26 p.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of violating bail and a warrant in the 100 block of N. Adams St.

Monday, July 1

11:49 p.m. A man was charged with trespassing at the Senior Center, 107 N. Chestnut St.

2:09 p.m.: An officer served two arrest warrants on a man who was transferred from another facility into the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

3:34 p.m.: An officer served an arrest warrant to a man in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

7:23 p.m.: An officer served a woman with a summons and arrested her on a warrant at Happy Valley Trailer Park, 203 E. Seventh St.

7:46 p.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of public nuisance at Veterans Park (830 E. Main Street) after a group of people and an underage girl in the park reported that a man was publicly peeping into the back of the restrooms and urinating into the back of the restrooms while completely exposed from the waist down.

10:43 p.m. A woman was arrested on a warrant at Cork-N-Bottle Liquors, 443 E. Main St.

Tuesday, July 2

04:51 a.m. A woman was arrested on a warrant and suspicion of violating a protective order prohibiting her from possessing or consuming alcohol when officers discovered her in possession of a bag containing two nearly full 750 ml bottles of vodka and she was noticeably unsteady on her feet near Front Row Seat, 610 E. Main St.

9:56 a.m. A man was arrested on a warrant at 206 S. Harrison St. and served an indefinite fine for trespassing at PC411, 17 N. Maple St.

11:16 a.m. – An officer arrested a woman on a warrant who entered into the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

10:08 p.m.: An officer arrested a man on a warrant during a traffic stop for failing to use his turn signal when turning onto Washington Street.

Wednesday, July 3

12:32 a.m.: An officer arrested a man on a warrant who was sleeping on the floor at the entrance to the restrooms at Centennial Park, 800 E. Montezuma Ave.

2:57 a.m. A man was arrested on a warrant after officers responded to an undesirable person loudly working on a vehicle at Mountain View Trailer Park, 815 S. Chestnut St.

8:51 a.m. A woman was arrested for violating a restraining order at 1417 Navajo St.

2:05 p.m.: An officer arrested a woman on suspicion of open consumption of alcohol, possession of alcohol in the park, littering and resisting arrest at Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St. The man and woman accompanying the woman were also issued a 24-hour trespassing order in all city parks, possession of alcohol in the park and open consumption of alcohol.

4:14 p.m.: An officer took a report of theft from a Frito Lay vendor at City Market, 508 E. Main St.

5:01 p.m. A man was cited for operating an unsafe/defective vehicle, reckless driving, driving without a valid license, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle in the 300 block of E. Seventh St.

10:56 a.m. An officer took a report of a woman with money missing from her wallet that was dropped off at Safeway employees, 1580 E. Main St. The report states that the woman making the report returned to her vehicle and was met in the parking lot by an unknown woman who claimed to have dropped off the wallet. The report states that upon reviewing surveillance footage, the unknown woman was acting suspiciously and hurriedly.
