On Monday afternoon around 3:00 p.m., Roseburg Police and EMS responded to a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a truck towing a trailer at the intersection of Southeast Stephens Street and Southeast Douglas Street.

Sergeant Daniel Allen said preliminary investigations revealed the CMV and trailer, driven by a 35-year-old man, had stopped at a red light heading south. The driver drove through the crosswalk when his light turned green. Allen said the vehicles struck a woman who was walking in the crosswalk.

The Douglas County Coroner pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been determined.

Allen said the driver was not injured and is cooperating with law enforcement.

RPD was assisted by the Roseburg Fire Department, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon Department of Transportation.
