Deltona woman found dead in lake behind her home, officials say – WFTV

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – Volusia County officials said a woman was found dead in a lake behind her home over the weekend.

Officials said they were called Sunday afternoon because an unconscious woman was found in the water on Fort Smith Boulevard.

First responders from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office and Deltona Fire Rescue arrived and found the victim in the lake.

Paramedics tried to resuscitate the woman, but she was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Officers identified the woman as 74-year-old Bethania Germosen.

Officials said Germosen frequently feeds ducks and turtles in the lake and has been struggling with some current and long-term health issues.

“The Sheriff’s Office would like to extend its sincere condolences to her entire family and friends on her loss,” a Volusia County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said.

MPs said “no suspicious circumstances” were observed in connection with her death.
