KARACHI: The Pakistan Tennis Federation has suspended its treasurer for holding another position in a local cricket association. PTF General Secretary Zia-ud-Din Tufail has sent a letter to all affiliated units of the PTF, saying, “It has also been communicated that PTF Treasurer Arif Qureshi is suspended until a final communication is made.” When contacted, Arif Qureshi said he would not comment on the matter. Meanwhile, a source told The News that Arif has already resigned from the local cricket association. “National sports policy does not apply to cricket, so the suspension of Arif by the PTF does not hold water,” the source said. It may be noted that PTF President Aisam ul Haq Qureshi and PTF Secretary are currently in London and have delegated their powers to SEVP Suleman Junaid. “In the absence of the President and Secretary of PTF, Suleman Junaid (SEVP PTF) will assume the duties and manage the daily routine affairs of the PTF until his return. He will be responsible for the smooth functioning and administration of the Federation,” the Secretary stated in the same letter to the affiliated units.
