1 person arrested, 3 at large after multi-agency chase that ended in Berkeley Co.

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – North Charleston police, Berkeley County officials and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are searching for three suspects following a highway chase.

Harve Jacobs, spokesman for the North Charleston Police Department, said the incident began around 4 a.m. Saturday morning when officers arrived in the 4800 block of Tanger Boulevard because four men were threatening someone.

When officers noticed the smell of marijuana, they approached the vehicle, but the driver sped away.

Police pursued the vehicle westbound on I-26. The pursuit ended near Cypress Gardens Road after the car became stuck in the mud.

Officers managed to arrest one passenger, 18-year-old Anthony Frazier, who is charged with receiving stolen goods. According to police, Frazier was also armed with a handgun during the incident.

He is being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center on $2,500 bail and is due in court on July 25.

The other three occupants of the vehicle are at large after a North Charleston Police sniffer dog and Berkeley County officials attempted to track down the remaining suspects. Police say they are still being sought.

According to police, officers from the South Carolina Highway Patrol assisted in the pursuit.
