South Simcoe police charge driver with stunts, driving while suspended and reckless driving

South Simcoe Police charged him with impaired driving, driving while suspended and reckless driving between June 20 and June 28.

On June 20, at approximately 10:40 p.m., police were conducting a speed check near 10th Sideroad and 2nd Line in Innisfil when a vehicle was observed traveling 158 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

A 17-year-old from Innisfil was charged with reckless driving and speeding. The vehicle was impounded for 14 days and his driver’s license was suspended for 30 days.

On June 27 at around 11 a.m., officers were on patrol in Innisfil when their automatic license plate recognition device alerted them to an “unaffixed” license plate, police said in a news release.

A 30-year-old Innisfil man was charged with using an unauthorised registration plate for his vehicle, driving while his licence is suspended and operating a motor vehicle on the highway without insurance. It was the fourth time this year the driver was charged by South Simcoe police with driving while his licence is suspended and he was issued a summons to appear in court.

On June 28 at approximately 11:55 a.m., officers responded to a crash at the intersection of County Road 27 and Line 9 in Bradford West Gwillimbury. Police observed a vehicle traveling westbound on Line 9 at a high rate of speed and struck a vehicle traveling northbound on County Road 27.

The occupants of both vehicles suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital as a precaution. An 82-year-old woman from Mississauga was charged with careless driving.
