1 dead and 5 injured in overnight shooting in downtown St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, Missouri (First Alert 4) – One person is dead and several others injured after a shooting in downtown St. Louis Sunday morning.

The shooting occurred around 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of 10th and Market Streets near Serra Sculpture Park.

According to authorities, the murder victim is a man in his mid-20s and the five other victims are believed to be in their early to mid-20s. The victims were taken to local hospitals.

Police believe the shooting occurred after an argument broke out among a group of girls and escalated when men intervened.

At least one firearm was recovered in the area, but authorities said it is unclear whether the weapon is connected to the shooting.
