Italian football legend hospitalized after ‘violent attack during Euro 2024’

Italian football legend Roberto Baggio has reportedly been hospitalized after being attacked and robbed by armed thugs.

The shocking incident occurred on Thursday evening as he watched Italy’s 1-0 defeat to Spain at Euro 2024.

Italian news agencies claim the 57-year-old former striker suffered a “nightmarish” seizure that “lasted about forty minutes.”

Baggio allegedly tried to fend off five armed men after they broke into his property.

Despite his courage, the star could not fend off the attackers and he and his family were locked in a closet.

The robbers then stole watches and jewelry from his house before Baggio managed to free himself and call the police.

The former striker spent the night in a local hospital and required stitches following the attack, which is now under police investigation.

Baggio is a football icon who played for Italy’s three most successful clubs: Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan, winning two Serie A titles during his career.

In 1993, Baggio contributed to Juventus’ UEFA Cup victory by scoring two goals in the first leg of the final against Borussia Dortmund.

This year he was named FIFA World Player of the Year and awarded the Ballon d’Or.
