Yellow alert: More heat, humidity for all, storms for some

ROCHESTER, NY — A yellow warning remains in effect for Wednesday and Thursday as heat and humidity continue, with the risk of some gusty storms. Tuesday saw temperatures above 80 degrees for the second day in a row, and Wednesday will make it three days — an official heat wave.

Temperatures are expected to reach 32-35°C, with dew points ranging between 18-21°C, making it feel more like 38°C+ for a few hours in the late afternoon. While most people will simply be uncomfortable in this weather, those working outdoors, the very young and the elderly should take more precautions and try to avoid the heat and use air conditioning if possible. The heat is expected to continue through Thursday before we feel the heat moving southward toward the end of the week. With this heat, we will also experience some scattered to isolated showers and thunderstorms. Any thunderstorm that develops could bring gusty winds and heavy rain.

Our weather pattern will begin to break up starting Friday, and there will be a higher chance of some showers and storms. While the heat will ease, humidity will likely stick with us through the weekend before a pattern change emerges next week.
