3 predictions that are WAY too early for the Buffalo Sabers in 2024/2025

It’s only June, but it’s never too early to start thinking about next year if you’re the Buffalo Sabres. After a disappointing 2023/2024 season, it is time to turn the page. With October four months away, let’s talk about next year.

Even though the draft and free agency haven’t happened yet, let’s get crazy! In this article, I will give three predictions for the team next season. Whether it’s a specific player or the organization itself, I’ve had a few predictions. Enough talking, here are my predictions!

There’s no denying it was a year of regression for Sabers forward Dylan Cozens. While he wasn’t the only player to take a step back, his numbers this season were definitely concerning. In 79 games played, Cozens scored 18 goals and recorded 29 assists for 47 points and was a -4.

However, at the IIHF World Championships, Cozens shined. Even though it didn’t help Buffalo, it was good to see the Whitehorse Workhorses have a good tournament. As for next season, I think Dylan will react in a big way as I predict he will score 40 goals.

It was a tough year for him, but with him under new head coach Lindy Ruff, Cozens will find his scoring touch. In the 2022/2023 season, he scored 31 goals and received a well-deserved contract extension. He also struggled defensively, but I see him bouncing back in 2024/2025.

Dylan is one of the most responsible players on the team and it is possible that he will be one of the assistant captains next season. Hopefully he can get his game back next year as he is a vital part of a team trying to take the next step.
