Police attacked by dogs and angry man during welfare check in Ogle County | MyStateline

OGLE COUNTY, Ill. (WTVO) – Ogle County officers were attacked by aggressive dogs during a welfare check Friday and then by an equally aggressive homeowner, police said.

The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office said officers were called to the 7000 block of E. Grist Mill Road in Chana around 11:40 a.m. and were attacked by “multiple aggressive dogs.”

Then 62-year-old Richard Eraas, the homeowner, came out of the garage and began yelling at the officers. The situation escalated after Eraas allegedly attacked one of the officers, police said.

Eraas was arrested for aggravated assault on a police officer and was given a summons to appear in court on July 3.
