WCSD employee accused of sexually assaulting student, must appear in court | News

A Washoe County School District employee accused of sexually assaulting a student is scheduled to appear in court Monday afternoon.

According to authorities, Caitlyn Rock’s appearance is for a bail hearing on multiple counts of sexual assault of a minor and sexual enticement.

Earlier this month, Reno police received a report from a 14-year-old boy who said he had a sexual relationship with a 46-year-old woman later identified as Caitlin Rock.

According to the WCSD website Rock works at Billinghurst Middle School. Her job description on the website is “Intervention” under “Support Staff.”

Detectives from the Royal Police Department’s Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit took over the case and arrested Rock after questioning her and the victim.

The investigation is ongoing.

A spokesperson for the Washoe County School District issued the following statement:

The Washoe County School District (WCSD) is appalled by these allegations and is not privy to the details of the criminal investigation. This alleged conduct is reprehensible and not representative of our staff, schools, or district.

Ms. Rock does not currently have a contract with WCSD as contracts for educational support staff expire today. The district will follow proper procedures moving forward.

WCSD is cooperating fully with the Reno Police Department in the ongoing criminal investigation.
