Podcasting is for everyone – Buffalo FAMbase — #BillsMafia

I make the bitter people on social media laugh who complain about how “everyone is doing a podcast” and that there are “too many Buffalo Bills related podcasts.” Maybe it doesn’t bother me because I come from a generation that was used to getting Shout! magazine a week late in the mail. This was the ONLY bill related document that could be found if you lived out of state. Let’s just say we knew Chris Brown when he had hair 🙂

Now we have so much bill-related content to choose from that we can’t digest it all. There are fan blogs like ours, mainstream media, radio, podcasts, TV shows and message boards all dedicated to the Buffalo Bills. But podcasting in particular seems to irritate sourpuss more than most media modalities for some reason.

It’s like @Cover1 or @BruceExclusive are the only people with analysis expertise to be podcast worthy. While these guys are undoubtedly experts in the field of football analytics (and fabulous human beings), football is no longer just about what analytics experts think.

It’s also about what us old fans think.

And since fans come in all sizes and shapes, and from all over the world, it’s often different aspects of the game that these fans may find just as intriguing as 40 times over.

So… I have four words for sourpusses when they start complaining about too many podcasts.

The podcast is for everyone.

For example, I’ve had the honor of being a guest on several different podcasts over the years. Anyone who knows me and is reading this knows that I focus largely on the mental side of the game, something that has only recently been recognized as important as an area of specialty in its own right. I wrote passionately about its necessity 20 years ago on the (RIP) Buffalo Bills Discussion Forum. People thought I was crazy. They may be right about me, but they weren’t talking about the importance of mental health for optimal performance on the field.

So when my podcast partner in crime, Tiffany Estell (@teestell_BIB) approached me about creating a podcast three years ago (what?), I jumped at the chance to spread the word about examining Bills from a different angle. One of my personal goals has always been to improve my comfort level as a public speaker. Tee was a huge help in mentoring me. She is like a sister to me.

Now my good friend Robby Snyder is starting to do podcasts from his own perspective. His latest edition with @NickelCityCrew’s Rob Crippen (also someone I really like) (with DT!!!) is great. Robby asks Rob what he thinks about various topics related to the upcoming season.

Two of my favorite people in the world!

I believe Robby also did a few shows with Sal Capaccio @SalSports.

Welcome to the world of podcasts, Robby. It’s great to have you on board and part of the BuffaloFAMbase podcast network! Hope to see you on other podcasts soon!

Editor’s Message Board: I come from the days of Larry Felser, the “Walter Cronkite” of Western New York sports media for decades, so the world of podcasting fascinates me today. Many thanks to Robby Snyder and Rob from Nickel City Crew for this excellent podcast. Here are many more. Find me on Xwitter @RobynMundyWYO.
