Officials said the store at Ashford Dunwoody Road and Roswell Road will close to the public on July 12.

DUNWOODY, Ga. — Two popular Walmart stores in metro Atlanta will close, according to company officials.

Officials said the Ashford Dunwoody Road Supercenter store in Dunwoody and the Roswell Road Neighborhood Market in Marietta, including the pharmacy, will close to the public on July 12.

The Dunwoody location is not that far from the Perimeter Mall.

“This decision was not made lightly and was only made after a careful and thoughtful review process. We have nearly 5,000 stores in the United States and, unfortunately, some do not meet our financial expectations. Although our underlying business is strong, this store has “We have not performed as well as we hoped,” the company said.

The company added that most store associates will be transferred to other locations within a 15-mile radius and will be paid through September 20.

Customers with pharmacy prescriptions will also be transferred to another convenient location.

Walmart spokesperson Alicia Anger released the following statement on behalf of the company:

“We are grateful to the customers who have given us the privilege of serving them at our Dunwoody, GA and Marietta, GA stores. We look forward to continuing to serve them at one of the region’s nine other locations, the walmart.com and through delivery to their home or business.
