Arizona man arrested after planning shooting at Atlanta concerts, U.S. attorney says

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – An Arizona man was arrested after planning a mass shooting at two concerts in Atlanta, according to the U.S. Attorney for the District of Arizona.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Mark Adams Prieto, 58, of Prescott, Arizona, planned a mass shooting at concerts in Atlanta on May 14 and 15. He wanted to “incite a race war before the 2024 elections in the United States.” Presidential election.” Mass shootings reportedly targeted “African Americans and other minorities.”

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Prieto sold two rifles to an FBI informant. Prieto was arrested driving east along Interstate 40 on May 14. Police found seven firearms in his car and other weapons after executing a search warrant at his home.

Prieto was charged with firearms trafficking, transferring a firearm for use in a hate crime and possession of an unregistered firearm.
