Ascension: Plants in Manhattan and Wamego back to normal operations after months-long cybersecurity incident

A spokesman for health care provider Ascension said Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan and Wamego Health Center had successfully restored the primary technology used for electronic patient documentation in care facilities.

The announcement means that all Via Christi hospitals in Kansas have now successfully restored EHR access. This enables most hospital departments, physician offices and clinics to utilize electronic documentation and charting, resulting in improved efficiency and reduced wait times.

Ascension disclosed the cybersecurity incident in early May that affected hospitals and healthcare facilities across its nationwide network. The company is working to complete EHR recovery across the department by the end of this week.
