Teenager dies in collision with car while riding dirt bike in Hamblen County, THP says

HAMBLEN COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Tennessee Highway Patrol said a 17-year-old teenager was killed in a collision with a car in Hamblen County while riding a dirt bike.

According to a preliminary report from THP, the car was traveling south on Three Springs Road near North 3rd Street in Russellville around 2:30 p.m. Monday when the teen ran a stop sign, crossed into the car’s path and was struck.

THP said the teenager, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead.

According to the preliminary report, no charges were filed against the driver of the car.

No further information was released.
