Gas prices drop in New York

The national and New York average gas prices are decreasing as summer approaches.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The national average price of gasoline fell to $3.45, 8 cents lower than last week’s average on Monday. A year ago today, it was $3.59. In New York State, the average is $3.62, down 3 cents from last Monday. A year ago today in New York State the price was $3.70.

AAA Western and Central New York (AAA WCNY) reports the following averages:

  • Batavia – $3.56 (down 5 cents from last Monday)
  • Buffalo – $3.61 (down 3 cents from last Monday)
  • Elmira – $3.45 (down 2 cents from last Monday)
  • Ithaca – $3.66 (down 2 cents from last Monday)
  • Rochester – $3.64 (down 2 cents from last Monday)
  • Rome – $3.64 (down 5 cents from last Monday)
  • Syracuse – $3.60 (down 2 cents from last Monday)
  • Watertown – $3.68 (down 3 cents from last Monday)

According to AAA, “Gasoline prices took another trip south this week, falling eight cents since last Monday to $3.45. Demand for gas fell last week, while total domestic gasoline inventories jumped, according to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA). In the morning, oil prices stabilize in the mid-70s to low-80s, down slightly from last Monday. Tepid demand for gasoline, increased supply and falling oil prices will likely result in continued lower prices at the pump, providing motorists with savings as we move into the future. the unofficial start of summer.”

They also noted that diesel prices were falling. The national average is $3.79, 6 cents less than last Monday. The New York State average is $4.28, down three cents from last Monday.

AAA says: “To save fuel, motorists should map out their routes, avoid busy times like rush hour, and combine errands into a single trip while using cruise control when possible.
