India News | Five persons detained for gang-raping minors in Madhya Pradesh’s ‘Shahdol’


Shahdol (Madhya Pradesh) (India), May 8 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh police on Wednesday arrested five accused who allegedly gang-raped a 15-year-old girl in Shahdol district, an official said.

The incident took place on Monday evening (May 6) in the jurisdiction of Kotwali police station when the victim and her friend were returning from training. The accused intercepted them, took the victim’s friend hostage and mistreated the minor, police added.

According to police, the accused have been identified as Aishwarya Gupta (36), Kailash Panika (29), Mohamad Afzal Ansari (28), Sahil Qureshi (22) and Mohammad Sameem (18).

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Dinesh Chandra Sagar told ANI, “The unfortunate incident took place on Monday evening, May 6. The minor victim was coming from a coaching class with her friend and they were intercepted by five people. “The accused took her towards a forest area, took the victim’s friend hostage and raped the girl.”

After committing the crime, the defendant fled the scene. The victim lodged a complaint at Kotwali police station and an FIR was immediately registered in the matter. An SIT (Special Investigation Team) was formed and started searching for the accused, Sagar said.

The team arrested all the five accused and produced them before the court, the official said.
