Jyron Johnson killed: Suspect at large after shooting man in East Piper Grove neighborhood, HCSO says

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) – Harris County Sheriff’s officials are searching for a man who shot another man in a western Harris County neighborhood Saturday afternoon.

The shooting occurred shortly before 1 p.m. in a grassy alley off Silverhawk Drive near Clay and Greenhouse, just blocks from the victim’s home.

Authorities believe the men may have met for a business transaction that did not involve drugs.

“We don’t know if they knew each other or if this was their first time meeting,” said Sergeant Michael Ritchie of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

At some point, officials said, the suspect shot the victim multiple times.

The victim, whose mother identified him as 20-year-old Jyron Johnson, ran down Silverhawk toward his home.

Neighbors reported that he stopped at several houses along the way and screamed for help.

At least ten shots can be heard on a surveillance video obtained exclusively by Eyewitness News.

The victim is then seen stumbling across a driveway. Wounds are visible on his hand and leg.

Seconds later you hear him scream: “Help me!”

He only made it one block before collapsing in the street. Officers say he was dead when they arrived at the scene and the suspect, who they say is a man in his late teens or early 20s, was already gone.

Johnson’s mother said he leaves behind two daughters and is expecting a boy.

Investigators say they are waiting for the medical examiner to determine how many times he was shot.
