Pearl River man arrested for alleged murder of his father

PEARL RIVER (WVUE) – A Pearl River man has been arrested in connection with the murder of his father.

Douglas LaFrance, 74, was found dead on his porch around 5 p.m. on May 26. Detectives with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Major Crimes Division responded to a call about a suspicious death at LaFrance’s residence on Slaughter Drive near Pearl River.

The St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office performed an autopsy and confirmed it was homicide.

Vincent LaFrance was arrested Wednesday (June 5) on a warrant in connection with his father’s death. He is charged with first-degree murder and will be booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges are possible.
