UPDATE: Highway 97 south of Clinton reopened after 8-hour closure

Highway 97 is reopened after being closed in both directions south of Clinton following a traffic accident on Tuesday, June 4.

The incident occurred around noon between 26 Mile Frontage Road and Boyd Pit Road.

Drive BC noted that Highway 97 reopened at 8 p.m.

While the closure was in effect, residents in the Little Fort area reported heavy rush hour traffic in the community as vehicles were forced to detour off Highway 97.

Highway 5A north of Merritt was also closed for 13.9 km between Monck Park Road and Pennask Lake Road on Tuesday evening due to a vehicle accident. The accident has since been resolved.
